The Women's Stories

Age: 18

As my father is a psychiatrist, (with a particular interest in body dysmorphic disorder), I have grow up around issues concerning our notions of beauty, what makes us ugly, what parts of our bodies we obsess over, what is socially acceptable to wear etc, and have always been interested in them. So a project that seeks partly to show the wealth of difference and inherent beauty in each and every unique curve and bump has my full support.

And I cannot stand the squeamish twerps of boys who are unable (or refuse to) appreciate or understand the beauty of the female form. I hear them berating the women around me to starve and wax and generally make themselves bland orange clones; to sculpt the genitals through invasive surgery so they become hidden, removed, locked away – so they don’t scare the guys? Boring! What better way to signal to women the wide range of beauty – and normality! – than by putting it on a wall for all to see?

I heard about the project through my father and popped out of a family reunion in Brighton, appeared on Jamie’s doorstep and demanded he do the artistic deed!
