Since appearing on TV in 2008, three years before the project was even finished, the educational potential began to be recognised. Educators, medical professionals, sex therapists, the media, businesses and individuals became increasingly interested. We frequently grant requests for the use images in educational and other publications. Nothing like these images exists anywhere else!
Because these are photographs of plaster casts, rather than naked skin, they manage to avoid the similarity that direct photographs of vulvas have to pornography. This vastly increases the age range to which these images can be safely shown. They also neatly avoid the issue of race, allowing the shapes to be observed without labels. Because of these benefits and the sheer number of casts, it remains the go to resource for any author or publication wishing to demonstrate or discuss vulva diversity, labiaplasty, gynaecological conditions, menstrual health etc.
